The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi instructed to form additional units of unmanned systems to strengthen the defense of the state border in the northern direction.

Syrskyi announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Held a meeting on the status and readiness of the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to strengthening the defense of the state border in the northern direction. To increase the effectiveness of border protection, a decision was made to form new units of unmanned systems. They will be provided with the necessary weapons, equipment and other means to perform certain tasks," he said.

Syrskyi added that at the same time, they continue to increase the capabilities of units that are already performing tasks in this direction.

They also reviewed the status of the territorial defense brigades and made a decision to scale up the unmanned component in their composition, which will significantly increase the capabilities of the units in conducting reconnaissance, striking the enemy, and protecting designated areas of responsibility.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that during a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, he discussed countering possible offensive operations by the russians in the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction, and that protection in this direction would be increased.

After that, in May, the National Police strengthened security measures in the border areas of the northern regions, in particular, checking documents of citizens and transport.
