Ukrainian air defense downed all cruise missiles and record-breaking number of Zircons - Ihnat

During the large-scale combined strike on Ukraine on the night of June 15, the russian occupation forces changed tactics. Instead of the usual Kalibr cruise missiles, the enemy launched Iskander-K cruise missiles. In total, the enemy used 70 missiles and 611 drones of various types during the night. Yurii Ihnat, the head of the communications department of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported this on the air of the national telethon, noting that this attack resembled the shelling of June 2.

According to a representative of the Air Force, among the released arsenal were recorded anti-ship missiles Zircon, which were used to attack from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as 34 ballistic missiles Iskander-M.

The massive air attack had to be repelled by joint efforts of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian sky defenders managed to demonstrate a one hundred percent result for certain types of targets. As of the morning, the air defense forces had destroyed 100% of the cruise missiles that Russia launched over the territory of Ukraine.

The most difficult stage of repelling the attack traditionally remains countering the enemy's ballistic weapons.

"Unfortunately, ballistics still remain a problem for us. Of course, Patriot systems can shoot it down, and this time out of 34 missiles flying along ballistic trajectories - "Iskander-M"/S-400 — only 15 were shot down. This is a rather high result for this type of attack," Yurii Ihnat emphasized.

In addition, Ukrainian air defense demonstrated excellent efficiency when intercepting super-complex hypersonic targets. Anti-aircraft guns managed to eliminate 5 "Zircon" missiles, which, according to the Air Force, is one of the best results of countering this type of Russian weapons of all time.

We will remind, during the attack on Kyiv, the roof of the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra caught fire. According to Tkachenko, it was a direct hit.

Russia also attacked the Dovzhenko film studio in Kyiv and destroyed the largest costume collection in Ukraine.
