The Cabinet of Ministers should start paying the first new allowances to the military in June.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in a video address, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, Zelenskyy reported that yesterday he held meetings with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, and Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko.

A way to increase the financial stability of defense and ensure further transformation of the Ukrainian army was agreed upon.

In particular, according to the President, there is a resource to increase payments in the army, military personnel in the rear should receive at least UAH 30,000.

"The more combat missions, the higher the level of payments. There will be new, significantly stronger contracts for infantrymen: UAH 300,000 on average on the front line... The contracts will be worked out so that there is clarity: the contract period is 10 months, 14, 24 and specific conditions, that is, clear deferrals. Guaranteed terms and real deferrals. In addition, payments for Ukrainian combat commanders will be increased, and this should create a positive incentive to preserve the experience of management in the army," he said.

According to Zelenskyy, the Cabinet of Ministers will approve a specific mechanism, and the government should begin the first new additional payments in June.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 1, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the start of the army reform, which, in particular, provides for the possibility of dismissing mobilized personnel from service this year.

At the same time, Zelenskyy said that the reform will start in June, and that the first results should be seen in June, in particular in the field of financial support for soldiers, sergeants and commanders of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. On Friday, June 12, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that the government will present a military reform in the coming weeks, which, in particular, will provide for an increase in the financial support of the military and the terms of service.
