Police officers in the Khmelnytskyi Region neutralized an armed criminal who, after shooting at law enforcement officers, fled into a wooded area and threw a grenade at forest rangers. National Police Chief Ivan Vyhivskyi reported this on his Facebook page on Friday, May 15.

Vyhivskyi noted that after shooting at the police officers, the man fled into the forest, where he threw a grenade at forest rangers in a vehicle.

"Special police forces were dispatched to search for the criminal. When the attacker saw the police armored vehicle, he began shooting again. In response, the police acted professionally—the shooter was neutralized," wrote the head of the National Police.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 15, a driver who had been stripped of his license by a court order shot at police officers during a document check. One officer was killed, and the other was injured.
