Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that European countries cannot serve as mediators in peace talks. He made this statement to reporters on Thursday, May 14.

Peskov named the United States as the sole mediator in the talks and called this format “workable.” According to him, European countries cannot join this process due to their alleged “participation in the war on Ukraine’s side.”

"Clearly, Europeans do not want to and cannot act as mediators. Moreover, they are currently directly participating in the war on the side of the 'Kyiv regime' and are, rather, advocates of the idea of dealing a crushing blow to Russia. Of course, with such an approach, it is hardly appropriate to claim the role of mediator," Peskov said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 12, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov repeated russian dictator vladimir putin’s statement that the war waged by the aggressor state, the russian federation, in Ukraine is allegedly “almost over.”
