The US Department of State has approved a potential deal to sell Ukraine equipment for converting "dumb" aerial bombs into precision-guided munitions, along with related equipment. The estimated value of the deal is USD 373.6 million.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) of the US Department of Defense announced this on Tuesday, May 5.

A post on the DSCA website states that Ukraine has requested the purchase of 1,200 KMU-572 tail kits and 332 KMU-556 tail kits. These kits enable the conversion of conventional free-fall bombs into high-precision GPS-guided munitions (JDAM).

The request also includes FMU-139 fuze systems, support equipment for JDAM, spare parts, consumables, software, publications, and technical documentation.

"The proposed agreement will enhance Ukraine’s ability to counter current and future threats by further equipping it with the means to carry out self-defense missions and ensure regional security," the statement reads.

The main contractor will be the American company The Boeing Company.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in February of this year it became known that Norway and France would increase funding for military support to Ukraine.

Also in February, the UK Ministry of Defense announced that it would provide Ukraine with 1,000 missiles to protect infrastructure from attacks by the aggressor country, russia.
