Rada extends martial law and mobilization until August
The Verkhovna Rada extended the duration of martial law and general mobilization from May 4 for 90 days, that is, until August 2, 2026. According to the Ukrainian News agency, 315 and 304 MPs, respectively, voted in favor of the corresponding bills No. 15197 (extending martial law) and No. 15198 (general mobilization), with a minimum of 226 votes required.
The bills ratify Decrees No. 342 and No. 343 of April 27, already signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, regarding the extension of martial law in Ukraine and the general mobilization period starting May 4, 2026, for 90 days.
This marks the 19th parliamentary vote on these issues.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 14, the Verkhovna Rada extended the duration of martial law and general mobilization from February 3 for 90 days, that is, until May 4, 2026.
On February 24, 2022, the Rada approved President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s declaration of martial law in connection with russia’s initiation of the war, as well as the announcement and implementation of general mobilization.
