SSU detains student - FSB agent who corrected occupiers' missile and drone strikes on Cherkasy Region
The Security Service of Ukraine’s Counterintelligence has exposed yet another FSB agent in the Cherkasy Region. The perpetrator was directing russian missile and drone strikes against the region’s energy infrastructure. This is stated in a report by the SSU.
According to the case file, a local student recruited by the enemy was responsible for coordinating the airstrikes. He came to the attention of russian intelligence officers while searching for “easy money” on Telegram channels.
In exchange for promises of “quick side jobs,” the perpetrator agreed to track the location of one of the key energy facilities for the FSB. To do this, he identified the location of the critical infrastructure facility and photographed the area under the guise of taking a walk. He then stored the intelligence data on his own smartphone to prepare a summary “report” for his handler from the russian intelligence service.
"SSU officers exposed the suspect at the initial stage of his intelligence activities and detained him in a student dormitory, where he was preparing an intelligence 'report' for the Russian Federation. During searches, a computer and smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with the FSB were seized from the detainee," the Security Service reported.
Security Service investigators informed the agent that he is suspected of treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the SSU previously detained a russian agent who directed shelling of Kramatorsk and set fire to an armored personnel carrier belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
