The situation surrounding the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has escalated again following a drone attack that resulted in casualties, according to the IAEA.

On the morning of April 27, a drone struck a transport workshop building located near the plant’s industrial site. The driver was killed in the explosion. A team of agency experts, who are permanently stationed on site, has already launched an investigation into the incident to establish all the circumstances of the attack and continue monitoring the security situation at the facility.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi issued an urgent statement, once again emphasizing the inadmissibility of military operations near nuclear facilities.

“Strikes on or near nuclear power plants can threaten nuclear safety and must not occur,” the agency head emphasized.

This incident served as yet another confirmation of the high risks facing the plant, which remains under constant threat due to armed aggression.

As a reminder, the Zaporizhzhia NPP had previously been operating on its sole remaining power line.

It was also reported that russia rejected a US proposal to transfer full control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as part of a potential peace agreement.
