During war, rockets were launched into space twice. Venislavskyi tells about secret operations of Defense Intelligence of Ukraine
During the full-scale war with the russian aggressor country, the units of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine have successfully launched rocket carriers into space twice. Fedir Venislavskyi, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on State Security, Defense and Defense Innovations, has stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
What is known about the space launches of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine?
So, according to Venislavskyi, the DIU units have already launched rocket carriers from the territory of Ukraine into outer space twice. The first launch took place at an altitude of more than 100 kilometers, and the second - at 204 kilometers. Both results were officially recorded by technical means.
"This is a unique situation for a country that is in a state of full-scale war. That is, Ukraine already has the technical capabilities to counteract such enemy attack means and defeat them in space," Venislavskyi said.
He added that these were not experiments, but the fulfillment of real combat missions under the leadership of the then head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (now the head of the President's Office) Kyrylo Budanov.
"We have missiles that almost no one knows about, but which are capable of striking enemy territory at a distance of up to 500 km and flying at hypersonic speeds. And we are successfully using them. But their main purpose is to carry out extraordinary operations, including those we have just discussed," the MP said.
What did Venislavskyi say about the missile launch from an airplane and the "air spaceport"?
In addition to these launches, according to Venislavskyi, the DIU working group performed another unique task: launching a rocket from a transport aircraft at an altitude of about 8 km.
"This was done for the first time on the European continent and for the second time in world history. The United States was the first to do this in the mid-70s. But our withdrawal height is a record," Venislavskyi emphasized.
He added that this air system may turn into an "air spaceport" in the near future. Launching missiles from the air saves energy for passing through dense layers of the atmosphere, which significantly increases the range and effectiveness of the strike, the MP explained.
The system is planned to be used both for peaceful purposes and to counter russian Oreshnik missiles.
"These are unique results of the work of our group, which is led by the Defense Intelligence. Now we continue to work in this direction," Venislavskyi summarized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Fedir Venislavskyi said that Ukraine plans to create Space Forces - this requires 10-15 people and half a billion dollars.
