Number of non-banking financial institutions decreases by 2 companies in March

The number of participants in the non-banking financial market in March 2026 decreased by two institutions - to 759, and the number of licensed banks remained unchanged - 60.

This is evidenced by the data of the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In March, the licenses of two financial companies were revoked at the initiative of the applicant, and the licenses of two more financial companies were revoked by force. The NBU also changed the scope of the license for financial services activities (narrowing the scope of the license) for one financial company.

Five non-banking financial institutions were excluded from the registers. In particular, one insurance broker was removed from the registers at the initiative of the applicant. Four financial companies were forcibly removed from the registers. Three insurance brokers were also included in the registers.

As of April 1, 2026, 399 financial companies (there were 403), 47 non-life insurers (the number has not changed), 10 life insurers (the number has not changed), one insurer with a special status, 100 pawnshops (the number has not changed), 81 credit unions (the number has not changed), one lessor (the number has not changed), 47 insurance brokers (there were 45) and 73 collection companies (the number has not changed) operated in the non-banking financial services market.

The number of banking groups (15) remained unchanged, while the number of non-banking financial groups decreased by one (39) in March.

There are 13 payment systems operating in the payment market (there were 14), created by residents, including state-owned (the number has not changed), and 10 international (the number has not changed).

At the same time, 16 payment institutions (the number has not changed), 11 financial institutions authorized to provide payment services (the number has not changed), one bank issuing electronic money (the number has not changed), and one postal operator (the number has not changed) operate in the market of financial payment service providers.

Other entities operating in the payment market include 69 commercial agents (the number has not changed), 32 payment service technology operators (the number has not changed), and four non-financial payment service providers. Information about all payment market participants can be found here.

In March, the NBU received 228 requests from market participants for registration and licensing actions. The number of inquiries regarding financial companies, pawnshops and lessors amounted to 137, insurers - 38, credit unions and collection companies - 17, and banks - 36.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the number of non-banking financial market participants in February 2026 decreased by eight institutions to 761, and the number of licensed banks in February decreased by 60.
