Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashes in Crimea. Сrew manages to eject and survives

A fourth-generation Su-30 fighter jet of the aggressor country russia crashed in the occupied Crimea on Friday, April 3. Both crew members survived.

The russian propaganda agency Interfax reported this with reference to a press release from the russian Ministry of Defense.

The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. in the occupied Crimea. The aircraft was performing a scheduled training flight without ammunition on board. The cause of the fighter jet's crash has not been announced.

"The crew ejected and was evacuated by a ground search and rescue team. There is no threat to the lives of the pilots," the statement said.

The Su-30 is a fourth-generation two-seat fighter developed in the USSR on the basis of the Su-27 heavy fighter. The aircraft made its first flight in December 1989.

As of the beginning of 2023, more than 650 units of the Su-30 of various modifications have been produced. The cost of one fighter is estimated at USD 50 to USD 83 million, depending on the modification.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last Tuesday, March 31, in the Bakhchisaray District of the occupied Crimea, an An-26 military transport aircraft of the russian army crashed. There were 29 people on board, none survived.

Later, a number of media outlets reported that the crash of the An-26 killed Lieutenant General Alexander Otroshchenko and at least six other officers of the russian Northern Fleet.
