For the first time since the start of the full-scale war, NATO's top military command arrived in Ukraine. Among the topics of discussion was the involvement of the Ukrainian military in future exercises as a simulated enemy.

Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the President's Office, has reported this on Facebook.

"For the first time during a full-scale war, a NATO military command of this level visited Ukraine - a delegation led by Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation," the statement said.

According to Palisa, they talked specifically about the involvement of the Ukrainian military in future NATO exercises as a conditional enemy (Red Team). He noted that last year's experience of participation showed the allies the latest methods of warfare - in training scenarios, Ukrainian teams demonstrated a significant advantage.

The future of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC), was also discussed separately.

"We are entering the final stage of deploying Ukrainian command and control systems, developing analytical capabilities and scaling up training programs," he added.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a multinational NATO team led by Ukraine defeated a simulated enemy team and even "sunk" one frigate at the large-scale Dynamic Messenger 2025 exercise within the framework of the alliance.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss strengthening air defense and the impact of the situation around Iran on Ukraine.
