President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss strengthening air defense and the impact of the situation around Iran on Ukraine.
The Ukrainian President wrote about it on Facebook.
According to Zelenskyy, during the meeting with Rutte, they discussed many different topics, but first of all, strengthening air defense and protecting Ukrainians from russian attacks.
"We are very grateful for the PURL program, thanks to which we can buy missiles for the Patriots from America. We will work to attract new countries to this initiative and increase contributions," he said.
In addition, the situation around Iran and its impact on Ukraine and the whole of Europe was also among the topics discussed. He emphasized that the aggressor state russia should not benefit from this and should not have any opportunity to prolong its war against Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed anxious premonitions about possible peace talks with russia due to the United States' shift in attention to the conflict in the Middle East.
Earlier, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andrii Pyshnyi, said that the US operation against Iran could put additional pressure on the Ukrainian economy, and to support the military budget of russian dictator vladimir putin.
Meanwhile, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said, that he sees potential in an agreement with US President Donald Trump to provide European military support to secure the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for for all the necessary assistance to Ukraine to reach an acceptable peace deal with russia.
