Ukraine foiled russia's March strategic offensive - Zelenskyy

The Ukrainian Defense Forces foiled a strategic offensive operation that the army of the aggressor country, russia, planned to conduct in March. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Monday, March 16.

"And although the attacks continue, the assaults are underway, but the intensity of the assaults, the scale of the confrontation are not what was planned by the russians and promised by their command to the political leadership of russia," Zelenskyy said in his video address.

The Head of State thanked the Ukrainian military, who are defending Ukraine in the Donetsk Axis, as well as in the Kharkiv and Sumy Regions.

He especially noted the units that are performing combat missions in the Zaporizhzhia Region.

"The russians are trying to strengthen their positions there, but we are destroying their forces <...> Today I spoke with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. There is something to note about the Ukrainian soldiers. Well done, guys," Zelenskyy added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 8, President Zelenskyy noted that since January, the Ukrainian military has managed to liberate 435 square kilometers of territory in southern Ukraine.

Recall, on February 23, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in the Oleksandrivka Axis (the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia Regions), the Ukrainian military has regained control over eight settlements.
