Ministry of Defense reveals unclassified information about Storm Shadow, which destroyed plant in Bryansk
On March 10, the Defense Forces destroyed the main production facility of the Kremniy El plant in Bryansk with Storm Shadow aircraft missiles. The plant produced microelectronics for russian precision weapons. The Ministry of Defense told about the advantages of the missiles.
What unclassified information about Storm Shadow was announced?
Missiles are launched from airplanes, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use Su-24M for this purpose. The range is up to 300 km, and the warhead weighs 450 kg. Storm Shadow flies at an altitude of 30-40 meters above the ground at a speed of about 1000 km/h, which is an advantage when breaking through enemy air defense.
The main advantages of this missile include:
- Invisibility. The cruise missile is made using Stealth technology, flies at an extremely low altitude, bypasses the terrain, which makes it practically invisible to most ground-based air defense systems.
- Range. Storm Shadow confirms the declared range of up to 300 km - in the export version, which is supplied to Ukraine.
- Destructive power. The warhead of the Storm Shadow missile has a double BROACH type charge. The first charge penetrates concrete, the second explodes inside.
- High efficiency. Storm Shadow uses GPS and inertial navigation systems, including comparison with a terrain map, as well as a thermal imaging head that recognizes the target from a stored image.
Storm Shadow / SCALP EG is a French-British air-to-surface cruise missile. It is designed to destroy important stationary targets well protected by air defense systems.
Recall that earlier General Staff showed a video of the damage to the plant by Storm Shadow missiles in Bryansk.
