Trump announces additional progress in Ukraine peace deal
Work continues on formulating a peace agreement that will end the war in Ukraine. Additional progress in the negotiations is expected in the coming days. US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff reported this on X on Friday, March 6.
Witkoff noted that the process of prisoner exchange between Ukraine and russia took place thanks to the agreements reached in Geneva during the recent trilateral talks with the participation of the United States. According to him, US President Donald Trump is a leader in promoting diplomacy to resolve the conflict.
"Under the President's leadership, we continue to achieve meaningful outcomes while working towards formulating a peace deal that will end the war once and for all. Discussions remain ongoing, with additional progress anticipated in the weeks ahead," Mr. Witkoff emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 5, US President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not ready enough for peace talks and is an obstacle to them.
On February 13, Trump said that Zelenskyy now has a great opportunity to make a deal, so he should hurry up and act.
On February 26, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that the signing of a peace agreement between Ukraine and russia would not be preconditional on Ukrainians' confidence in a peaceful future without the threat of russia.
