Russia suspends construction of Iran's Bushehr NPP and evacuates its specialists
The aggressor country russia has suspended the operations of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran due to the military operation of Israel and the United States. Moscow assisted the Iranian regime in the construction of the second stage of the nuclear power plant.
The head of the russian corporation Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, said this on Tuesday, March 3, his words are cited by the propaganda agency Interfax.
"Of course, in Iran, work has been stopped at the facility. We are very strictly ensuring that our employees do not leave the village and are minimally present at open areas related to construction," Likhachev said.
According to him, there are currently 639 specialists from russia in the Bushehr NPP area. Some of the russians were in Tehran, they are allegedly leaving the territory of Iran. When the security situation improves, russia will start evacuating its specialists from the construction site at the nuclear power plant.
Likhachev added that Rosatom has lost contact with its Iranian counterparts. The leadership of the country's nuclear industry does not get in touch.
The Bushehr NPP is the only nuclear power plant in Iran. Its construction was started in 1975 by the West German Kraftwerk Union, but after the Islamic Revolution in 1979, work was suspended.
Construction was resumed by russian specialists in 1992, when moscow and Tehran signed an agreement on cooperation in nuclear energy. The first stage was completed in 2010, and in 2011 the plant was connected to the Iranian energy system.
In 2014, russia and Iran signed an agreement on the construction of two more power units at Bushehr NPP. In 2016, construction of the second stage of the plant began.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 3, US President Donald Trump said that on the fourth day after the start of Israeli and US strikes, the Iranian leadership wanted to start negotiations, but it was too late.
Also on March 3, Israeli aviation hit the building of the Iranian Council of Experts, a special state body that elects the new Supreme Leader of the country.
The day before, the Trump administration named the key targets of the military operation against Iran.
