US Congress ready to ratify security guarantees for Ukraine - Minister Sybiha
According to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine has received information from the United States about its readiness to ratify security guarantees in Congress.
This is stated in a message posted on the official page of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Telegram.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these are legally binding guarantees, not assurances, for the first time in Ukraine's history. The draft of bilateral guarantees is almost ready.
"The second key element of the security architecture is a military presence with an American backstop. Without the role of the United States, an effective security system in Europe is impossible," Sybiha said.
In his opinion, it is necessary to deplete the russian economy and deplete russia's military capabilities: "Or, best of all, both the economy and military capabilities at the same time."
The Minister noted that russian president vladimir putin has not achieved any strategic goals in Ukraine.
"He must recognize that he will never achieve any military goals in Ukraine," the Foreign Minister added.
Sybiha is convinced that the right time has come to ban visas for participants in russian aggression.
"I mean the Russian military and their family members - and deprive them of the opportunity to visit Europe, Canada and the United States. It would be really painful for them," he explained.
