The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another russian agent in Kyiv. He was a 40-year-old employee of the information security department of one of the commercial banks of the capital, recruited by the FSB. This is said in the SSU report.

According to the SSU cyber specialists, the attacker collected personal data of the financial institution's customers among the soldiers of the Defense Forces and military volunteers for the enemy. The occupants could use this data to prepare terrorist attacks, information sabotage and recruitment operations against Ukrainian defenders.

"SSU officers exposed the agent in advance, documented his intelligence activity and detained him at his place of residence," the SSU said.

During the search, the SSU seized four smartphones, removable SIM cards for conspiracy, and three laptops on which he was accumulating personal data of potential "targets." The detainee's gadgets also contained his contacts with the FSB.

According to the special service, the bank employee came to the attention of the russians because of his activity in a banned social network.

After the recruitment, the agent received "test" tasks from his russian supervisor to conduct additional reconnaissance near the base of the Defense Forces in Kyiv. To do this, the banker walked around the area on weekends and took pictures of buildings that he believed could be used by Ukrainian defenders.

Later, he was tasked with collecting information about the financial institution's clients, including military personnel and volunteers who opened accounts to help the Armed Forces. He was also supposed to pass on to the occupiers the coordinates of the backup data center where the bank's database and its users are stored.

The Security Service investigators served the agent a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The offender is in custody without the right to be released on bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the SSU exposed a russian GRU corrector on preparing shelling of three regions of Ukraine at once.
