In January, Ukraine reached record monthly electricity imports of over 894,000 MWh

In January, compared to December, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 40% to a record monthly import volume of more than 894,000 MWh ExPro, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The report says that Hungary continues to account for the largest share - 45%.

In general, supplies increased in all directions, except for Moldova.

Also, in January, a record value of imports per day was reached - 41,900 MWh.

In ExPro publications, it was reported that the level of import crossing utilization has grown significantly - the number of hours in which it is already being used even at 100% has increased.

This is mostly true for daytime hours and the evening peak.

In the hourly context, the largest increase in imports occurs during the daytime (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.).

It is noted that there were no electricity exports in January 2026.

In general, exports have been completely absent since November 11, 2025.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December, compared to November, Ukraine increased electricity imports by 53% to almost 640,000 MWh.

In December 2025, Ukraine did NOT export electricity.
