Ukrzaliznytsia trains running with delays due to abnormal weather. Where situation is most difficult?
Abnormal weather conditions throughout Ukraine have caused significant complications in the movement of railway transport, with at least 10 sites identified where trees felled by the storm have damaged power lines, as well as communication and signaling devices. The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia has stated this.
As a result, the railroad was forced to withdraw reserve diesel locomotives, and on 10 tracks, traffic was switched to telephone communication.
One of these incidents occurred with train No. 127/128 Zaporizhzhia - Lviv: a tree fell directly on a passenger car. Fortunately, the passengers were not injured, and the car itself was not seriously damaged. The most difficult situation is currently observed in the Odesa Region, where special equipment is eliminating the effects of solid ice covering the power lines.
Which trains are delayed the most:
- No. 38 Odesa - Uzhhorod: the delay is 7 hours and 50 minutes;
- No. 78 Odesa - Kovel: the train runs 6 hours late;
- No. 166 Odesa - Chernivtsi: the delay is 5 hours and 55 minutes;
- No. 12 Odesa - Lviv: the delay is 5 hours and 38 minutes
- No. 106 Odesa - Kyiv: the train is 5 hours 07 minutes late.
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes that despite the difficult conditions, all trains continue to run. Passengers are advised to follow the operational updates on the uz-vezemo portal, where information about delays is updated in real time.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, severe weather conditions are expected due to ice and heavy icing on the roads in Ukraine on January 27.
