French Finance Minister Roland Lescure said he would call a meeting of his colleagues from the Group of Seven (G7) countries, which the country holds the presidency of this year, "in the coming days" to discuss trade and sovereignty issues after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional tariffs if the US does not allow the purchase of Greenland.

This was reported by France24

"We fully support Greenland and Denmark. Blackmail between friends is clearly unacceptable," he stressed.

Recall that on January 18, the European Union was also preparing an emergency meeting of ambassadors in connection with US President Donald Trump's statement on new tariffs on Greenland.

Meanwhile, Trump sent a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Søre, linking his statements on Greenland to the refusal to award the Nobel Peace Prize, directly blaming the country, not the committee. In it, the American President also claims that he "no longer feels obliged to think exclusively about peace." In addition, on the 19th, Trump, after a conversation with NATO head Mark Rutte, made another statement on Greenland, accusing Denmark of inaction in the face of the "russian threat."
