Political analyst: Budanov's link to NABU searches of Tymoshenko's house makes no sense
Attempts to link the searches of Yuliia Tymoshenko's home by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine with the activities of former Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and head of the President's Office Kyrylo Budanov are a creation of a myth instead of strong legal positions on Tymoshenko's part. Political analyst Viktor Taran wrote about this on Facebook, commenting on the statements of Tymoshenko's defenders.
According to Taran, the NABU searches are being presented as an alleged "attack by the authorities on Yuliia", using the version that the bureau acted "on the order of Budanov through MP Kopytin". The basis for such allegations, the author notes, is "some 'document' of some assistant in the Defense Intelligence."
Taran emphasizes that the NABU carries out investigative actions within criminal proceedings, and not based on political sympathies or antipathies. "The NABU conducts searches not because someone likes or dislikes someone, but within the framework of criminal proceedings," the author notes.
The political scientist believes that it would be much more logical to talk about possible procedural violations, abuse of power or to make legal arguments, rather than "emotions, hints and 'connections' as usual."
"When there are no strong legal positions, myths are used. When there are no arguments, 'documents of assistants' appear. When there is no support and there are accusations, the game of victimhood begins," Taran writes.
Viktor Taran also notes that such rhetoric is intensified during periods of difficult international negotiations in Ukraine. "Is it a coincidence? Perhaps. But the handwriting is all too familiar," the blogger notes.
We would like to remind you that the head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, arrived in the United States and announced meetings on the details of the peace agreement.
