Fedorov starts work on correcting situation with territorial recruitment centers - Svyrydenko

Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has been tasked with correcting the situation with the territorial recruitment and social support centers and changing the approach to mobilization. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko during the hour of questions to government in the Verkhovna Rada.

According to her, Fedorov should focus on contract service and new ways of attracting people to the army.

"One of the tasks facing Fedorov as Minister of Defense is to increase the motivation of the military through the introduction of contract service and other tools. He has taken this into work," Svyrydenko said.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged that the current methods of work of territorial recruitment centers harm the conscription process.

"We all, of course, understand what a negative effect this has on conscription in general, so we are working on this. But this is not such a simple task in conditions of a full-scale invasion," she added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 14, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Mykhailo Fedorov as the new head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The day before, the parliament dismissed Fedorov from his previous position - head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

Also, after meeting with the Minister of Defense, Zelenskyy said that he expects him to eliminate the defense funding deficit, as well as better provide for military personnel on the front lines.
