France takes over intelligence for Ukraine after US refusal and provides two-thirds of intelligence - Macron

France has become a key partner for Ukraine in providing intelligence information, effectively replacing the US in this aspect.

This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron during a speech at the Istres-Le Tubé military base, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to him, the situation has changed radically after Washington suspended data exchange in March 2025 due to political agreements regarding negotiations with russia.

"If a year ago Ukraine was extremely dependent on American intelligence, today two-thirds of the information comes from France," Macron stressed.

He emphasized that French services now directly coordinate the provision of information necessary for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to plan strikes and defense.

The President added that this is a clear signal about the autonomy and strength of Europe.

"The signal we are sending to Ukrainian partners, other Europeans and the whole world is that we are ready. We are ready to support these resistance efforts. We are ready to deter new aggressions or ensure peace on our land," he said.

Earlier, a meeting was held at the Elysee Palace in Paris regarding the potential sending of troops to Ukraine after the signing of a peace agreement.

According to the results of the meeting, it became known that the country can allocate 6,000 peacekeepers to participate in the mission.

A proposal was also submitted to the French parliament for the country's withdrawal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) against the backdrop of the actions of the United States under the leadership of President Donald Trump.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the European Union is considering two candidates for future direct negotiations with russian dictator vladimir putin in order to prevent the United States from dictating its terms of a peace agreement in Ukraine.
