Russians keep military equipment close to Zaporizhzhia NPP buildings. Video from UAV published
The aggressor country russia uses the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to launch unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Russians also keep weapons and military equipment on the territory of the plant.
The spokesman for the Defense Forces of the south of Ukraine Vladyslav Voloshyn said this on Wednesday, January 14.
He posted a video from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, filmed by a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone. The video shows russian military equipment standing close to the buildings of the power plant. An armored car, several trucks and probably an armored personnel carrier can be seen.
Voloshyn emphasized that this is a gross violation of International Humanitarian Law. It forbids to turn nuclear power plants into military facilities.
In addition, the speaker added, the russians, knowing that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are not attacking the NPP, use the plant as a training ground for their UAV operators. There is evidence that the occupiers also conducted artillery shelling of Zaporizhzhia from the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
"What do you think, do the IAEA experts, whose mission is located at the plant, see this?" Voloshyn wrote.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the end of December 2025, work was completed at the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to restore the external power supply to the plant, which was disrupted by russian shelling.
Shortly before, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that Ukraine and the russian federation agreed on a local ceasefire to carry out restoration work at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
