Latest American Tempest air defense system spotted in Ukraine, which was first shown only last year
A new anti-aircraft missile system from the United States may have appeared in the Ukrainian Defense Forces. It is the Tempest air defense system from V2X, which can be seen in one of the videos released by the Center Air Command in its New Year's address.
It was reported by Defense Express.
There is no official information on the number of such complexes. Given that the Tempest is a fairly recent American development, it is possible that Ukraine has received one or more prototypes for testing and further refinement of the system in real combat conditions.
The Tempest air defense system was first presented in 2025. In particular, it was demonstrated at the AUSA 2025 exhibition, which took place in October last year. V2X's development comes in two configurations: stationary - on a trailer to cover objects, and mobile - for use on the move. The concept of the complex is based on the idea of creating a relatively cheap and mobile means of combating drones, taking into account the experience of the russian-Ukrainian war.
We would like to remind you that since February, Ukraine and the United Kingdom have been launching the production of 1000 Octopus interceptor drones per month.
