Russia restricts calls from number of countries it calls "unfriendly" - Foreign Intelligence Service
The russian federation is introducing a ban on incoming international calls from a number of "unfriendly countries" without the prior consent of the caller. Moscow presents this initiative as a measure aimed at combating telephone and Internet fraud. It was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
The list of "unfriendly" states compiled by the russian authorities now includes 47 countries and territories. This list includes, in particular, the EU, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Ukraine.
The Foreign Intelligence Service adds that it is planned not only to limit incoming international calls, but also to introduce their mandatory labeling.
Strengthening digital control:
- Children's SIM cards: The russian government is also planning to introduce "children's SIM cards" that will allow parents to control content without additional statements.
- Blocking services: According to the Foreign Intelligence Service, the kremlin is consistently tightening its control over digital services. In the last two weeks alone, Roskomnadzor announced the blocking of four popular Internet services: the Roblox games, the FaceTime app, and the SnapChat and WhatsApp messengers.
The restrictions come amid statements in the State Duma about the need to block international telephone calls on fixed lines. In addition, earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development of the russian federation began to disconnect mobile Internet and SMS for a day for citizens returning from abroad.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the occupation authorities have taken another series of measures to restrict the access of Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) to Ukrainian and international sources of information.
