US gives Zelenskyy few days to respond to proposal to end war - FT

The administration of US President Donald Trump has given Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy just a few days to respond to the American proposal to end the russian-Ukrainian war.

The British publication Financial Times (FT) reported this with reference to its own sources.

According to the publication, American negotiators have given Zelenskyy a few days to respond to the "peace plan". In it, the US demands that Ukraine cede territories in exchange for unspecified security guarantees.

The FT writes that Trump wants to agree on an agreement to end the war by Christmas. At the same time, Zelenskyy said that he needs time to consult with European partners before giving an answer.

Kyiv fears that if the Trump administration continues to act without approval from Europe, this will lead to the destruction of Western unity.

An unnamed US official told the FT that Ukraine was "stuck" between a demand to cede territory it cannot accept and a US offer it cannot reject.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier today, December 9, President Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would soon provide the US with a revised "peace plan".

Yesterday, December 8, Axios reported that Trump's negotiators wanted Zelenskyy to agree to cede Donbas directly during a phone call.

Yesterday, Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine has no constitutional or moral right to cede its territories to russia.
