Border Service announces how long it will take to restore border checkpoint destroyed by russia
The Orlivka checkpoint in the Odesa Region has suffered significant damage after another russian attack. The infrastructure of the facility has been seriously damaged, and, according to preliminary estimates, its full restoration may take several weeks. This was announced by the spokesman for the State Border Service, Andrii Demchenko, during a telethon.
The premises necessary for the work of the Border Guard and other control services have been significantly damaged. In addition, the boxes for registration and inspection of vehicles have been completely destroyed.
"I cannot predict yet, but this (restoration - ed.) may take several weeks, because this time many of the infrastructure facilities of this checkpoint have been most significantly damaged," he said.
He noted that due to the particularly significant scale of the destruction, it will take time to restore the normal working process.
"Traffic through this checkpoint is possible for trucks, buses, and ordinary passenger cars. Infrastructure facilities are located both on the territory of Ukraine and on the adjacent side - Romania. Traffic is provided between the countries by ferry, that is, this is a ferry route, and unfortunately, Russia has repeatedly attacked this checkpoint," Demchenko noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of November 22, the enemy attacked the Orlivka checkpoint in the Odesa Region on the border with Romania.
