Rada initiates creation of Temporary Investigation Commission on crimes of RF against journalists

The Verkhovna Rada proposed to create a Temporary Investigation Commission, which will investigate the crimes of the russian federation against journalists and media workers. This was announced by the deputy head of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Yevheniya Kravchuk.

The relevant resolution has already been registered on the Verkhovna Rada website. The commission will include, in particular, the heads of the relevant committees - Yaroslav Yurchyshyn (Committee on Freedom of Speech), Mykyta Poturayev (Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy), Serhii Ionushas (Committee on Law Enforcement), as well as MPs Mykola Kniazhytskyi, Tetiana Tsyba, Bohdan Yaremenko, Dmytro Slynko, Serhii Sobolev, Olha Vasylevska-Smahlyuk, Ihor Huz and Pavlo Bakunets.

Among the main tasks of the commission are verification of the facts of deliberate killings, torture, kidnappings, injuries and illegal deprivation of liberty of journalists by russian armed groups, as well as interaction with state bodies, local authorities and international structures to document these crimes.

"The issue of releasing journalists and civilian hostages is a joint humanitarian mission that we must continue," the MP emphasized.

Kravchuk recalled that PACE recently adopted a resolution that mentions by name 26 Ukrainian journalists who are still in russian captivity.

It was previously reported that France is investigating the murder of its journalist by russia in the Donetsk Region as a war crime.
