Time to consider reinstating sanctions on putin's special envoy Dmitriev - Ukrainian Ambassador to US
The Ukrainian diplomatic corps has expressed its belief that it is possible to reinstate and strengthen personal restrictions on the head of the russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, who is part of the Kremlin's negotiating team.
This was stated by the Ukrainian Ambassador to the US, Olha Stefanishyna, in a comment to Suspilne.
"His actions and public statements are aimed at stalling time, blurring the focus on ending the war, and attracting more funding for russian aggression and its sponsors," she emphasized.
Stefanishyna emphasized that now that the envoy has arrived in the States and is telling lies, it is time to consider reinstating sanctions on him.
"Against the backdrop of the constant shelling of Ukraine, which the whole world is seeing in real time, Kirill Dmitriev's statements in the US that the shelling of the energy sector has been stopped should be a real red flag. Dmitriev has been providing resource support to putin's criminal regime for years, just as he is doing now," she added.
Recall, on October 24, CNN, citing sources, reported that Dmitriev arrived in the United States to hold "official" negotiations amid the US imposition of sanctions against the aggressor state of russia.
Dmitriev said that russia, the US and Ukraine are allegedly "close" to a diplomatic solution that could end the russian-Ukrainian war.
Dmitriev said on October 26 that he was continuing negotiations with representatives of the administration of President Donald Trump in the US - for the third day. In addition, he brought candies with quotes from russian dictator vladimir putin to the country.
