Double-decker bus donated by Berlin launched in Kyiv for first time: when and where it will run?
A double-decker city bus, which Kyiv received as a gift from Berlin, will start operating in the capital.
It was announced by the Kyivpastrans utility company.
The new transport will run on the route No. 57 between the Akademmistechko metro station and the Chapaivka Car Market stop. The bus will operate in test mode only on weekends - October 25 and 26 - from 9:43 a.m. to 6:53 p.m.
The municipal enterprise explained that the limited schedule is needed to assess the operational capabilities of the transport before its possible regular use.
The double-decker bus is designed for 83 seated passengers (28 seats on the first tier, 55 on the second) and 45 standing seats on the lower floor. The vehicle also complies with the principles of barrier-free accessibility: it has a low floor, two ramps, and seats for people in wheelchairs and a baby carriage. For the convenience of passengers, the cabin has USB ports for charging gadgets.
In November 2024, Kyiv received this bus from its sister city Berlin. At that time, it was also planned to be used for social excursions and rehabilitation trips for the military and their families.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Kyiv City State Administration showed how the overhaul of the capital's subway cars is being carried out.
