New ARMA head reveals problems that could lead to loss of asset value
Acting head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (Asset Recovery and Management Agency, ARMA) Yaroslava Maksymenko has revealed systemic problems that could lead to loss of asset value.
She spoke about this in an interview with the Ukrainian News Agency.
During the conversation, the head of the Agency refused to evaluate the activities of the previous management, but noted that she found facts of violations that are striking.
"I would avoid personal assessments. At the same time, the facts revealed at this stage of the audit are striking. If earlier it was about questions from partners and the public regarding individual decisions of the institution, now systemic problems are being revealed that could lead to loss of asset value," Maksymenko said.
According to her, there are also developments that deserve to be continued. This, in particular, is the accumulated experience in the field of international cooperation, the beginnings of developing competitive procedures, and the creation of a database of managers.
Such processes, she said, the team will continue and develop.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the head of the ARMA Olena Duma said that she had written a letter of resignation from her position. She believes that the government should appoint one of her deputies as the temporary acting head of ARMA, who will ensure decent support for the international audit and effective work of the National Agency for the period of holding a new competition for the position of head of ARMA.
