Russia actively recruiting mercenaries from Middle East for war in Ukraine – UP

Russia, together with Iran, is actively conducting large-scale operations to attract mercenaries to participate in combat operations on the side of the russian armed forces. These are mainly citizens of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen and other countries in the region.

It was reported by Ukrainska Pravda, citing its source in the special services.

According to the data received, Iran and russia are even involving former ISIS militants in this process, which is of serious concern to security experts.

One of the main reasons for such large-scale recruitment is considered to be the lack of personnel in the armed forces. Both financial incentives and promises of russian citizenship are used to attract mercenaries.

In addition, illegal migration and trade routes are used to transfer mercenaries, which run along four main routes:

  1. Middle East – Iran – Armenia – Georgia – russia
  2. Middle East – Iran – Azerbaijan – russia
  3. Middle East – Iran – Central Asia – russia
  4. Afghanistan – Central Asia – russia

In recent days, cases of detention of illegal migrants who tried to cross the borders in Armenia, Azerbaijan and the countries of Central Asia have been recorded. Their correspondence indicates close coordination with the russian side and receiving specific promises for participation in this process.

Judging by the photo documents, an Iraqi citizen, Amir Wisam Jwad, born on December 23, 2006, was detained, who tried to illegally cross the territory of one of the mentioned countries. It was established that the mercenary was recruited by the russian Ministry of Defense to participate in the war against Ukraine.

According to available data, an Iraqi citizen, at the suggestion of an employee of the russian Ministry of Defense, Polina Aleksandrovna, signed a contract with the ministry to join the ranks of the armed group "Baghdad".
