UK will produce Ukrainian interceptor drones, agreement signed – Shmyhal
The United Kingdom will produce Ukrainian interceptor drones, an agreement has been signed. Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Shmyhal signed the corresponding agreement with the Defense Minister of the UK John Healey in continuation of the agreements between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the UK on the development of industrial cooperation.
Shmyhal reported that initially it is planned to produce the first thousand drones, all of which will be delivered to Ukraine. He noted that interceptor drones have already proven themselves against russia's Shahed terror.
"We will continue to scale these projects, attract investments and improve technologies in order to most effectively protect Ukrainian cities and civilians from Russian air attacks," Shmyhal noted.
During the meeting with Healey in London, they discussed the practical implementation of the agreement. Shmyhal noted that this is a significant step in the implementation of the Agreement on a Centennial Partnership between Ukraine and Britain.
They also summed up the results of the meeting in the Ramstein format and coordinated issues for the next meeting, which will be held in October.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in June, then Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced that Ukraine and the United Kingdom were launching a new initiative to jointly produce drones; during the first three years, the British side would finance the purchase of Ukrainian drones, which would be manufactured in the United Kingdom.
According to him, according to the agreements, while the war is going on, all production will be directed to the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, after its end, the United Kingdom and Ukraine will distribute the manufactured drones between themselves.
