"Buffer zone" already exists, russia may withdraw deep into occupied territories to increase it - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that a "buffer" or "dead zone" at the front already exists, because heavy equipment has been pulled back by the sides due to the threat of drones, if the russians want to have a greater distance from the Ukrainian side - they can withdraw deep into the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Zelenskyy said this during a conversation with journalists, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I have heard this repeatedly from Europeans and Americans. I tried to explain it to some colleagues. Some, by the way, understand it all very correctly. Only those who do not understand the technological state of war today propose a buffer zone of 40, 50, 60, I even heard a proposal for 100 kilometers. Today, heavy weapons are already located (at a distance of) 10+ kilometers from each other, because everything is hit by drones. This buffer zone, I call it a "dead zone", some call it a "gray zone", - it already exists," he said.

Zelenskyy noted that there is no need to delay time and there is no need to "get carried away" by various points, additional conditions from russia or from some other "dreamers".

"The buffer zone exists. If russia wants to have a greater distance from us, they can retreat deep into the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine that they occupied and settle there. We don't need anything for this, the drones will burn everything," the President emphasized.

Thus, Zelenskyy commented on media reports that allegedly European diplomats and military officials are discussing the creation of a 40-kilometer buffer zone between Ukrainian and russian troops as part of a potential peace agreement.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated Ukraine's readiness for meetings with the aggressor state of russia at the level of leaders in any formats and geographical regions to end the war.
