Kallas on 19th EU sanctions package: possible restrictions on energy and financial services of RF

The new, 19th EU sanctions package against russia may include measures aimed at the energy sector, financial services and secondary sanctions. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas before the start of the informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Copenhagen, European Pravda reports.

According to Kallas, financial and energy restrictions may be the most effective against the Kremlin.

"We are working on the next package, and there are several options on the table at the moment. Of course, any sanctions against energy and all secondary sanctions that, for example, the Americans have introduced, as well as restrictions on financial services, which actually block their access to the capital they so desperately need," Kallas noted.

She added that discussions are still ongoing: "We always put a lot of options on the table, and then in the end we have to agree."

Kallas also stressed: "Everyone understands: given how putin is belittling peace efforts, the only thing that really works is pressure."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the EU Permanent Representatives Committee (Corеper) approved the 18th package of EU sanctions against russia on the morning of July 18.
