Russia attacks energy and gas transportation infrastructure in 6 regions of Ukraine - Energy Ministry
On the night of August 27, russia attacked the energy and gas transportation infrastructure of Ukraine with strike drones, the facilities were damaged. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.
"On the night of August 26-27, the enemy carried out another massive terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine. Targeted destructive strikes were carried out on energy and gas transportation system facilities in six regions of Ukraine, in particular in the Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia Regions," the message says.
An assessment of the damage is currently underway. Emergency and rescue services are working at the site of the hits.
"Around 1 am, a UAV strike damaged equipment at one of the key substations in Sumy, leaving a significant part of the city and industrial consumers without electricity," the Ministry of Energy said.
Gas infrastructure facilities in the Poltava Region were also damaged.
It is reported that energy and gas workers are making efforts to restore energy and gas supply as soon as possible.
"In the Poltava Region, the enemy carried out a targeted, comprehensive attack on gas transportation infrastructure facilities, causing significant damage," the ministry noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of August 27, russian troops carried out a massive drone strike on Sumy and the surrounding areas of the Sumy community. Infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of the attack.
In Sumy, as a result of a massive attack by russian drones, all water utility facilities were de-energized and are being switched to emergency backup power.
On the night of August 27, russian occupiers massively attacked the Poltava Region, damaging an energy sector enterprise and causing fires. The attack resulted in power outages, but power supply has now been restored.
