The US has offered the aggressor country russia to buy icebreakers from it and has also discussed several energy deals to encourage an end to the war against Ukraine, Reuters reported on Tuesday, August 26, citing informed sources.

US and russian government officials have discussed several energy deals aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine. According to the sources, the deals were offered to russia as incentives to encourage the Kremlin to agree to peace in Ukraine.

"The officials discussed the possibility of Exxon Mobil (XOM.N), opens new tab re-entering Russia's Sakhalin-1 oil and gas project. They also raised the prospect of Russia purchasing U.S. equipment for its LNG projects, such as Arctic LNG 2, which is under western sanctions," the report said.

The US is also considering purchasing nuclear icebreakers from russia. Reuters writes that the negotiations were conducted by US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff during a meeting with russian dictator vladimir putin and his investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev in moscow, and were also discussed at the White House with US President Donald Trump.
