For death in captivity – UAH 15 million: Cabinet approves payments to families of soldiers killed in russian prison camps

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at an extraordinary meeting approved a number of decisions aimed at strengthening social protection for servicemen and families of those killed in the war.

Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has announced this.

In particular, the government agreed to pay UAH 15 million to families of Ukrainian soldiers who died in captivity. The deadline for applying for a one-time cash benefit for soldiers who were injured or disabled has also been extended – now it is up to one year after receiving the status.

"This is the implementation of the law signed by the President on July 29, which provides for payments to families of those killed at the front or in captivity, except in cases of voluntary surrender to captivity," Svyrydenko explained.

The Cabinet also simplified the procedure for purchasing used vehicles by military units using state funds. This concerns the possibility of direct purchase of pickup trucks, ATVs, buggies and motorcycles from manufacturers without unnecessary approvals.

"The price will be determined based on market value or expert assessment. This decision will allow for the prompt renewal of equipment that wears out quickly on the front line," the Prime Minister noted.

Another decision adopted was the simplification of the procedure for writing off military property. From now on, equipment worth up to UAH 1.7 million can be written off without approval from higher officials.

"This will speed up the process of replacing worn-out equipment without unnecessary delays. But the simplification does not apply to small arms and real estate," Svyrydenko emphasized.
