5G technology will be tested in Kyiv Region. In which city will tests be carried out

After successful testing in Lviv, 5G technology will be tested in Kharkiv and Borodianka, Kyiv Region, this fall. This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

It is reported that earlier, at the second stage, 5G was planned to be tested only in Kyiv and Odesa.

"Before the full launch, we will test how 5G works in cities that have suffered from shelling and have partially destroyed infrastructure. Here, the technology will undergo the most difficult test - work in conditions of possible power outages and limited resources," the Ministry of Digital Transformation said.

The ministry noted that the test results will help analyze how 5G can become the foundation in the reconstruction and restoration of cities through digital technologies.

"Also, by 2030, Ukraine will gradually switch from 3G to modern communication standards, in particular 4G. This is a phased process: operators are already updating networks so that the transition is imperceptible to people. As a result, the Internet will become faster, communication will be more stable, and networks will be able to serve more users without losing connection quality," the report emphasizes.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 1, 2024, the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced that Ukraine is beginning the implementation of the 5G generation of mobile communications.

Recall, in May 2024, 5G generation communications were first launched in Ukraine.
