Russia reports drone attack on Syzran oil refinery

On the night of August 15, a drone attack on an oil refinery was carried out in Syzran, Samara Oblast, according to social media. Telegram channels and the russian BBC service published a video that allegedly showed explosions and fires in the area of the refinery, which was also reported by local residents.

Samara Oblast governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said this morning that 13 drones attacked the region, but did not mention the plant.

Later, the russian Defense Ministry reported that during the night, the air defense forces allegedly shot down 53 Ukrainian UAVs: 13 over the Kursk Oblast, 11 over the Rostov Oblast, 7 over the Samara Oblast, 6 over the Belgorod Oblast, 5 over the Oryol Oblast, 4 each over the Bryansk and Voronezh Oblasts, as well as one each over the Saratov Oblast, temporarily occupied Crimea, and the waters of the Sea of Azov.

The agency traditionally did not provide information on the total number of drones that penetrated deep into the territory of the russian federation, and did not comment on the possible consequences of the attack.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Saratov Oil Refinery. The enterprise is capable of processing up to 7 million tons of crude oil annually.

Meanwhile, on August 2, drones attacked oil refineries in two regions of the russian federation. Also that day, strikes were carried out on a military airfield and a radio factory.
