Naftogaz and EBRD sign record-breaking agreement for Ukraine of EUR 500 million for purchase of gas - Svyrydenko

The Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint stock company and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed a record-breaking agreement for Ukraine of EUR 500 million for the purchase of gas. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Naftogaz and EBRD signed a record-breaking agreement for Ukraine - EUR 500 million for the purchase of gas. This is the bank's largest project in our country. But most importantly - for the first time, such a loan is provided under an EU guarantee, without a state guarantee of Ukraine. This will allow Ukraine to better prepare for the heating season and provide Ukrainian homes with heat and light even on the most difficult days of winter," she said.

Svyrydenko thanked the EBRD and the EU for their support.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in April, Ukraine and the EBRD signed an agreement to finance emergency gas purchases by Naftogaz for EUR 270 million. In July, Naftogaz raised a UAH 4.7 billion loan from Ukrgasbank to purchase gas. Earlier, the Naftogaz group raised a UAH 4.7 billion loan from PrivatBank.
