Unconquered territories will not be given away. US makes new statement on end of war

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that in the issue of the war in Ukraine there can be no gratuitous territorial concessions in favor of russia. This is how the diplomat commented on the position of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the so-called "territory exchange".

"I took Zelenskyy's comments at face value, which is that no big chunks or sections are going to be given that haven't been fought for or earned on the battlefield," Whitaker emphasized in a comment for Clash Report.

He emphasized that the US seeks to end the war, and a peace agreement could save thousands of lives.

The diplomat also did not rule out that during the summit in Alaska, US President Donald Trump may meet not only with vladimir putin, but also with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Whitaker, Trump has a unique opportunity to conclude peace agreements and has already proven himself as a peacemaker, concluding an average of one agreement per month.

He recalled that recently, on August 8, a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia was signed at the White House with Trump's participation.

"I think President Trump is best situated to see if a deal can be had and if both sides can agree to ending the slaughter," the ambassador concluded.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 8, Bloomberg wrote after the meeting between Witkoff and putin that American and russian officials are working on an agreement that will allow russia to consolidate its occupation of two regions of Ukraine.

The agency also reported that this agreement provides for the freezing of the front line in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions.

Bloomberg's interlocutors said that the agreement should be ready before putin meets with US President Donald Trump. It will take place on August 15 in Alaska.

Meanwhile, russian dictator vladimir putin has said nothing about the possible return of the occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions. US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff simply misinterpreted his words.
