Polish Prime Minister says war in Ukraine could be closer to pause
A pause in the war in Ukraine could be close, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said after a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Reuters reported on Friday, August 8.
"There are certain signals, and we also have an intuition, that perhaps a freeze on the conflict - I don't want to say the end, but a freeze on the conflict - is closer than further," Tusk said.
Prime Minister Tusk also said that Zelenskyy was "very cautious but optimistic" in his assessments. According to him, Ukraine is interested in Poland and other European countries playing a role in the possibility of a ceasefire and a possible peaceful settlement.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 30, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that there are good chances and many signs that indicate the possibility of ending the russian-Ukrainian war at least in the near future.
As a reminder, on July 29, Tusk announced that 32 people suspected of collaborating with russian intelligence services had been detained in Poland.
On July 26, Tusk announced that NATO believes that russia could attack Europe in 2027, and that Poland could be targeted in particular.
