In Ukraine, navigation restored in Danube estuary, which was closed due to explosion of ship on mine
Ukraine is restoring navigation through the Bystre estuary channel after the explosion of a dredger ship on a mine. This was reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Thus, from August 6, 2025, traffic will be restored through the Bystre estuary sea approach channel of the Danube - Black Sea shipping route to and from the seaports of Ukraine
Who will be allowed to navigate?
Navigation is permitted for vessels with a draft of up to 4.5 meters, with mandatory pilotage and only during daylight hours.
Before the restoration of traffic through the Bystre estuary channel, relevant services, including the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, conducted measurements and a mine survey in the area near the emergency dredger "Inhulskyi".
It is reported that a set of measures to check the technical condition of the channel and organize safe navigation in cooperation with specialized services and in accordance with the requirements of current legislation has been carried out.
The results of the work determined the possibility and conditions for resuming navigation along an alternative route, and the inspection report was approved with positive conclusions.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the evening of July 23, an explosion occurred on a dredger at the mouth of the Bystre on the Danube in the Odesa Region. Three employees of the state enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) were killed as a result of the incident.
Recall, a mine exploded on the coast in the Mykolaiv Region.
