World's armies ranked by defense spending: Ukraine overtaken France - UA War Infographics
Ukraine is in 8th place in the world in terms of defense spending. In absolute figures, russia is almost three times ahead of us.
This was reported by the UA War Infographics Telegram channel.
Thus, based on data collected by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the top countries in the world in terms of military spending in 2024 have been compiled. The top ten are as follows:
USA - USD 997 billion;
China - USD 313 billion;
russia - USD 149 billion;
Germany - USD 88 billion;
India - USD 86 billion;
Great Britain - USD 82 billion;
Saudi Arabia - USD 80 billion;
Ukraine - USD 64 billion;
France - USD 64 billion;
Japan - USD 55 billion.
All top ten countries increased their defense spending compared to 2020. The largest increases were made by Ukraine (+838%) and russia (+126%), the smallest by Japan (+3%), France (+10%) and China (+10%).
For reference, in 2020, Ukraine's defense spending was only USD 6.8 billion.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine had received confirmation from partners regarding the provision of three Patriot air defense systems, and negotiations are underway to receive seven more.
