Trump cancels USD 9 billion in foreign aid and state broadcasting

US President Donald Trump has signed a bill to cancel USD 9 billion in foreign aid and support for state broadcasting. This is the first such decision approved by Congress in a decade.

"This bill is a test for Congress. Such cuts will continue," the White House said, CBS News and Opb.org reported.

In particular, more than USD 1 billion was to go to NPR and PBS. The Trump administration called these media outlets politically biased. The opposition warns of risks for local stations, as well as damage to the US's international image due to cuts in aid to other countries.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 14, European Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič said that Trump's imposition of 30% tariffs against the EU would destroy transatlantic trade.
